2021 Update: Now upgraded with the Isentek IST8308!
The IST8308 is a 3-axis digital magnetometer whose sensitivity range is more suitable to sensing the earth's magnetic field. Extremely high sensitivity (0.075 uT/LSB) allows for more accurate and consistent field sensing. This product also features ultra-low offset temperature drift (0.017uT/C), digital control logic, built-in temperature compensation circuit, and self-test function.

2019 Update:
Our Standard GPS Version has been updated. The main changes are the RGB LED driver addition, along with a few more features:
*On-board RGB LED driver (NCP5623)
*PPS Pad for easy access (for users needing the PPS signal)
*On-board safety switch / LED (this will require DIY soldering and the proper cable depending on Autopilot Hardware)

We decided to combine the LIS3MDL and IST8310 compasses to make it compatible across all platforms and provide redundancy.

Current compatibility:
PX4: Supports LIS3MDL.

Note: You must have Rev.3 of the STM32F4 microcontroller in order to support the above mags. You should have NO problems using them if you purchased any of our autopilots.

Features the latest Taoglas Antenna tuned for GPS + GLONASS, which provides a higher gain compared to any of its predecessors (from 1.5dBi to 5dBi), as well as dual Compass, the LIS3MDL by ST, and the IST8310 by iSentek, which is based on the legendary HMC5983 technology and licensed by Honeywell. In addition, the IST8310 is temperature compensated.

A micro USB port enables you to access all u-Blox features via u-Center and power the device. Please refer to this document if you have driver issues.

Extra Info: HMC5983 and the IST8310 are pin compatible (either one is placed on the board, but not both). There is a 3rd option, QMC5883L, that we might support later. If you need help identifying which version you have, please refer to this document.

Background:

The mRo GPS NEO-M8N is a professional grade, robust GPS system capable of sensing USA (GPS), Russian (GLONASS), and European (Galileo) constellations at the same time. You can optionally enable the Chinese (Bai Du) constellation in exchange of disabling GLONASS (this might change in the future by incoming firmware updates). This solution will provide you with an astonishingly accurate position and fast satellite acquisition. Our testing reported an average HDOP of '0.6', which is awesome.

uBlox engineers collaborated with us on the layout of this board. All of their recommendations as well as our own experience have been incorporated to deliver to you our best GPS module ever.

This module has the DroneCode standard GPS 6-Pins JST-GH connector defined here. We also include an auxiliary i2c port for future expansion using JST-GH connector standard and a status (pink) LED.

You can read more about all its features on the official u-Blox web page here. Remember we are using NEO-M8N-01, 'Professional grade.'

5 of 5 Works well November 12, 2021

I have used this unit since three years without issues. If you activate GPS auto configuration within Ardupilot it works out of the box.
I have now switched to the M9N version for future projects.

1 of 5 FAULTY GPS! May 2, 2021
Reviewer: Mykyta Chebotarov
Ordered this GPS module with Pixhawk kit from mRo. The information says that it must work out of the box when purchasing any autopilot and GPS from their store but it doesn't work at all.
Cables are double checked and in a good condition, tried it in the field, but nothing helps. In the same time, simple 15$ chinese clone works well. Moreover, after few helpless replies mRo support stoped communicating with me. I thought buying from mRo with "made-in-usa" signature means robust device with supreme quality and helpful support team but now I see that it is better to buy chinese clones 3 times cheaper cause the result will be the same you just spend less money
